Sacramento City Council has been discussing the redevelopment of the Sacramento railyards once again.
Last night as I was watching the hearings on the Sacramento railyards, the underlying discussion seemed to focus on affordable housing at the rail yard. It suddenly came to mind how affordable housing could indeed be accomplished and at the same time flow within the theme of the area.
I wonder if the developer and/or the City Council and Mayor Fargo have thought of this innovative idea that is being used world-wide, shipping containers. Not only would this be cost effective and follow the theme of the Railyards (what better place than the Railyards?), but is it also ecologically friendly.
Take a look at the video and see what your thoughts are. Perhaps, Mayor Fargo and the Sacramento City Council should insist that this be a part of the redevelopment of the Sacramento Railyards…what are your thoughts?
With the cost of Real Estate development, shipping containers seem to be the way to go.
Can you think of a better place to recycle shipping containers than our own backyard in Sacramento at the Sacramento Rail Yards?
