Will Sutter Street in Folsom Get A New Look?

Xmas in Old Town Folsom2Real Estate in Folsom may be changing.

Out with the old and in with the new. Do you have an opinion about keeping the old world charm of a historical district?

Do you think that the proposed changes below would stop you from going to Sutter Street in Folsom?

Have you heard that the City Council in Folsom will be deciding on whether or not Sutter Street will have a new look, a facelift?

Apparently, Sutter Street is not up to handicap standard with the large step-up to the sidewalks from the street level. The current revision would be to extend both sides of the sidewalks by 10 feet out making it handicap accessible. With wider sidewalks this would give more room for businesses to place things outside plus allow for outside seating.

It is said that there could be some addition parking areas for loading and unloading, as well. Home in Old Town Folsom The kicker is to do away with the center median in order to accomplish the extension of the sidewalks. There is much debate over the proposed changes.

Originally, Sutter Street in Folsom did not have a center island. On the original proposal for Sutter Street, there would be trees planted along side and the big tree at the end would have a go-around to turn and go back the other way. Roofs would have a make-over but keep the charm of the old.

The side streets in Old Folsom would also be improved. There is concern, by some over the safety of pedestrians walking down to Sutter Street.
