First Time Home Buyers in Sacramento-Congratulations!

Congratulations to all of the First Time Home Buyers!
This past week, Tabitha and Jacob moved into their new Beazer home in Natomas. It was a pleasure working with you both and getting the very best deal for the two of you. Who says you don’t need a Realtor to represent you when dealing with a Builder? That statement wouldn’t hold water with the two of you, would it?
And to Cheryl and David, enjoy your new home in Elk Grove, CA. It was a long time coming but it is yours and the excitement I saw in both of your faces was exhilarating. It was my pleasure to help find just the right home for the two of you and to introduce you to your new neighbors. It was fun taking that photo of you carrying Cheryl across the threshold… have you recovered???
Mark, I think we saw every house on the Real Estate market for sale. Mid-town is a great place and within walking distance to all of your shopping, restaurants and coffee shops. What a great old home you have with a full basement…not just one of those wanna be basements. You have a lot to live up to after finding out your front porch is the meeting place for all of the near-by neighbors to congregate. You’ll do great! And yes, I’ll pop-in for my special chair on your porch every now and then. Thank you so very much for the beautiful array of Shari’s Berries you sent to the office. I love them!
With all of the new First Time Homebuyers, I thought it might be important to reaffirm how important it is to treat your new home like a new born baby. Here are some helpful hints:
- Change your batteries on your smoke alarm each time daylight savings time changes.
- Change the filter for your heating and air at least every 3 months
- Don’t over water your lawn and keep water away from your house and fences
- Repair stucco cracks with paintable caulking
- Fix any water leaks IMMEDIATELY
- Once per year step back and check your roof for cracks, slippage and missing tile/composite
- Clean gutters each year whether you have trees around or not, dirt gets in and causes rust
These are only a few of the important items a home owner needs to do in order to take good care of your house and keep your Real Estate investment looking and feeling good!
Most of all, stay away from the phone calls and gibberish you get in the mail about refinancing. If it sounds too good to be true…IT IS! Call me before you ever refinance. Don’t take money out of your home to pay for items that you should never have bought. Remember, your home is not an ATM machine. Treat your new home with love and respect and she’ll be there for you for years to come.

Keith, thank you. These First Time Homebuyers had good credit and were motivated and responsible. They also knew that now is a good time for them to get into the Real Estate market.

I think your guidance for home owner tips is great! Some people think you can just buy a home, move in - and somehow everything just magically takes care of itself. You got to take care of your home.

Absolutely, homeownership comes with responsibility. There will be more tips to come later but this is a good start.

Steve, yes I think you’re right. It’s so easy to get caught-up in the refinancing and taking money-out MESS, especially when homeowners are bombarded with all the phone calls and junk mail. I hope they take heed.
