Curtis Park originally was a neighborhood built in the 1900s around an oval park that was considered suburban living. Curtis Park was outside of the City of Sacramento. Hard to imagine now, that this was a neighborhood designed to be the new American Dream of Suburbia. Curtis Park was named after William Curtis. The trees line the streets of Curtis Park as they do in Sacramento, the City of Trees.
Approximately 2,500 homes were built with middle to high income levels in mind. Curtis Park has a variety of homes with character. In Curtis Park you will find Victorian, Colonial Revival, Arts and Crafts, Tudor Revival and Spanish Revival.
You can spend all day there and never see the same thing twice. Each is individual with its own character. The homes in Curtis Park were known as bungalows and most built by Cutter who owned the Cutter Mill Lumber Co. There are over 30 subdivisions within Curtis Park.

Heilbron Oaks, stated that the houses had 50 foot lots and started at $700 with $50 down and $10 month. Can you believe those prices that home buyers paid in days gone by?

The neighborhood is a tightly knit and politically active group. With the park as the center piece, it is not unusual to see neighbors jogging with their baby strollers, walking their dogs and tending their gardens. Curtis Park has an Arts Center with a 300 seat auditorium for plays and musicals along with local eateries.

me which was once the home of the first Fire Department for the entire area of Curtis Park. It has undergone many changes and will now be the home of a new Curtis Park resident.

With just a 10 minute commute to downtown Sacramento, Curtis Park makes for easy living with great ambiance. Curtis Park has quite a history.
