Fair Oaks, Quaint and Charming

Fair Oaks, California is located in Sacramento County and is fully built-out. Utterly charming in its quaint appeal, it is hard to believe that Old Fair Oaks village is located so close to so much.
Visitors to the village can park their cars and stroll amid antique shops and cafes, taking in the ambiance of days gone by. Fair Oaks homes have large lots with winding streets that are narrow and mansions that overlook the American River on a bluff.
Winter festivities include Santa Parade and the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony. Other festivities are the Summer Fiesta Days with its circus, frog jump and arts and crafts as well as the Summer Shakespeare in the amphitheater in Plaza Park.
The magnificent homes located on the bluffs of the American River are lovely while smaller well-kept homes are found within the village and beyond.
Don’t miss my favorite restaurant, the Slocum House, a historic romantic eatery tucked away in Fair Oaks Village offers fabulous tasty food while roosters crow, peacocks greet you and on weekends a harpist/jazz combo groups offer soothing music.
In the town square you can just imagine the old timers sitting on the benches and talking about the events of the day…some still do. The roosters roam freely and it gives a person pause to think…need some down time to reflect? Take a minute and drive over to Old Fair Oaks Village but remember, the roosters have the right-of-way.
