Yes, the sky-line in Sacramento is soon to change with all the current and scheduled construction that will be taking place over the next few years. I wonder what the noise level is for those working Downtown? There are so many new high-rise projects that will be dramatically changing our sky-line. The Ziggurat building also caused great discussion years ago. With a projected 1 million new people moving to Sacramento by 2025, this seems like good timing. Here are just a few of the many projects slated for construction over the next year.
“The Towers” on Capitol Mall. John Saca is bringing an upscale project of two towers (often referred to as the Twin Towers) to our area with 340 luxury Condominiums in one tower and 425 in the other. InterContinental Hotel will provide hotel services with 230 plush rooms on the first 20 floors. The Towers offer 60,000 square feet of high caliber Retail shops and Boutiques, Gourmet Restaurants and Market, 40,000 Sq.Ft. State-of-the-art Fitness Center, Roof-top Pool, Spa & Salon, 7,000 Sq.Ft. Ballroom, Business Center, Conference Rooms etc. All this while enjoying the panoramic views in a Condo and taking advantage of the Concierge Services, Room Service and Housekeeping in a contemporary living style. There are one, two and three bedroom condos available.
Did you know that California Employees Retirement System is one of the backers for this project? Do you have any thoughts on the project’s name?
“Aura”, is the 1 out of 9 new state-of-the-art Luxury Condominiums planned for Downtown Sacramento. “Aura” is Daniel Liebeskind’s first residential High-rise. I’m sure that you have seen his mock-up while strolling Downtown. His picture is on the billboards for “Aura”. Daniel Liebeskind designed the new Denver Art Museum as well as the Jewish Museum in Berlin and he lso has another project downtown on 12th & I known as “Epic”. His style is one of Contemporary, Clean and Poetic. This 38 story bluish glass-sheathed tower at 801 Capitol Mall when completed gives the new Condo owner the choice of 700 Sq.ft. to over 4,000 Sq.ft. with 373 available units. Appears to be quite similar to “The Towers” in terms of amenities excepting “Aura” does not seem to have a hotel, at least not at this point. Costs range from $400K to $1.5 million.
“Epic” will be a 50 story creative design that is the sister of “Aura” It will be located at 12 & I with 44 of the fifty stories dedicated to residential condo living, 4 stories for professional offices and 2 stories for retail. There are a total of 354 units with the average square foot being 1400.
Have you seen the Parthenon and if so what are your thoughts on the design?
It is said that these high-rise structures will be the icon for Sacramento just as the pyramid building is to San Francisco and the Chrysler Building to New York. Can you believe that bucolic town was once synonymous with Sacramento? Take a look at us, now!
How do you feel this change Downtown will effect existing businesses?
What about the infrastructure?
Will the sun still shine Downtown with all the high-rises?
Since so many new jobs will be created, and living areas…how do you see traffic?
What makes a great City, a thriving metropolis, a place where others want to move?
